1700·Latin·1116 pages PDF (104.1MB) Source

The first volume of Hermann von der Hardt's monumental six-volume documentary collection on the Council of Constance (1414–1418), published at Frankfurt and Leipzig in 1700 under the patronage of Duke Rudolf August of Brunswick-Lüneburg. This volume opens with extensive prolegomena and indices, followed by Theoderich of Niem's Historia Concilii Constantiensis and related contemporary narrative sources, gathered from manuscripts in the Imperial Library at Vienna and elsewhere. The edition assembles previously unpublished manuscripts alongside earlier editions, furnishing the documentary foundation for modern study of the council that ended the Western Schism.
